This is the original version of this lesson paper. If you note the caption at the bottom of the page, it dates to the “Technical School for Carriage Draftsmen and Mechanics 222 Bowery New York”, which was funded by the carriage industry. Billy Durant, who got his start at the Dort Carriage Co. in Flint, and Hermann Brunn, whose custom body company would go on to build many of the most magnificent classic Lincolns, trained under Johnson when they were still in the carriage business.
