The Davis Divan has everything it needs to wind up on oddball car lists. An eccentric creator, some financial shenanigans that put him in jail, and just three wheels. Just 12 exist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My friend Myron Vernis owns one of those twelve and when I asked him what it was like to drive he said, in a word, “Terrifying!” He told me that he won’t take it faster than 45 mph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I was in Los Angeles to review a McLaren 675LT Jay Leno graciously invited me to visit his private garage in Burbank where he keeps, services, and restores his collection of motor vehicles. Jay was busy that day shooting for his Jay Leno’s Garage show and I was able to get some video of him and his camera crew going out for a spin in a Davis Divan. As you can see, it was a short trip as the 70 year old car had some kind of mechanical issue and Leno had to pull it over to the curb. Apparently, his crew never got it working well enough as that particular Davis has never appeared on his show. He did, however, feature the one owned by the Petersen Museum.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
