
You may have noticed that Mercedes-Benz and Genesis have lately featured front grilles with dozens of reflective chrome elements. That styling element actually dates to the late ’50s and early ’60s, when Cadillac and Lincoln had something similar. Unlike on modern cars, which are molded in one piece out of plastic and then chrome plated, each one of those little pointy things in the Cadillac grille was a separate metal part that had to be fastened to the grille.
