Domestic Chinese Auto Sales Predicted to Reach 8 Million in '07
China's auto sales to touch 8 mn in 2007
Daily India / December 23, 2006
Continuing with its rapid growth in 2006, China's automobile sales will exceed eight million in 2007, overtaking Germany to become the world's third largest automobile manufacturer after the US and Japan, an official with China's automobile association said Friday. Jiang Lei, an official with China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), attributed the expansion of the automobile industry to the booming economy, improvement in the industry's production capacity and fast development of home-brand manufacturers. Auto manufacturers will focus on improving product quality and services to expand the market, instead of just counting on lowering prices, Jiang said. During the first 11 months this year, China's automobile production touched 6.59 million, a year-on-year increase of 27.92 percent, while sales saw a growth of 25.49 percent to touch 6.45 million, CAAM's statistics said.
