China Oil Firms Sign Deal to Tap Bio-Fuel in Indonesia

CHINA National Offshore Oil Corp has signed a deal to partner with Indonesia's PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources & Technology and Hong Kong Energy (Holdings) Ltd to develop a US$5.5 billion renewable energy project. The parties have agreed to develop a bio-diesel plant using crude palm oil as a feedstock and to pursue a sugarcane or cassava-based bio-ethanol project in Indonesia, SMART said in a statement cited by ANTARA News yesterday.
